We bridge the gap between school preparation and workplace expectations, so students enter their first jobs with greater confidence, awareness, and practical skill.

Succeed

Professionalism, communication, feedback, accountability.

Understand

Paychecks, taxes, workplace expectations and rights.

Why WorkReady™

School prepares students to graduate. WorkReady™ prepares them to work.

Students may know how to complete an assignment and still have no idea how to email a supervisor, read a pay stub, respond to corrective feedback, recover from a workplace mistake, or build credibility during their first 90 days. We teach the skills that often have to be learned the hard way.

Career education helps students prepare for an occupation. WorkReady™ strengthens the human skills that help them succeed inside the workplace.

01 · Real-World

Practical, not theoretical.

Students practice the situations they are actually likely to encounter in an interview, first job, internship, or work-based learning placement.

02 · Employer-Informed

Built from the other side of the hiring table.

WorkReady™ is informed by more than two decades of HR and organizational leadership experience, not generic career advice.

03 · Whole-Person

Skills for the person behind the résumé.

We integrate communication, emotional intelligence, resilience, professionalism, self-advocacy, and workplace confidence.

The Workplace Readiness Gap

Your students are preparing for careers. But are they prepared for the workplace?

Schools are doing more than ever to prepare students for life after graduation. Students are earning credentials, completing internships, participating in CTE pathways, building résumés, and exploring careers.

But an industry credential does not automatically teach a student how to handle a difficult supervisor, respond professionally to feedback, communicate when they are going to be late, recover from a mistake, understand the deductions on their first paycheck, or navigate their first workplace conflict.

That is the gap WorkReady™ was built to fill. WorkReady™ complements career and technical education, work-based learning, internship preparation, college and career readiness initiatives, and senior transition programming by teaching the human skills students need to succeed once they enter a workplace.

This fits Louisiana’s direction. The state’s accountability system rewards schools for graduating students ready for career, college, or service, and gives schools the same credit for preparing students for high-demand careers as for top academic honors. Jump Start already develops the workplace skills employers value; WorkReady™ strengthens the human skills that help students succeed once they are on the job, complementing those initiatives rather than competing with them.

Five Domains of Readiness

We cannot predict exactly what work will look like. We can prepare students to succeed in whatever it becomes.

WorkReady™ is built around the capabilities that stay valuable even as technology, job titles, and industries change. It is not preparation for one job market. It is preparation for a lifetime of work.

Featured Module

Your First Paycheck: Money, Benefits & Financial Decisions

Most students do not learn this before they start earning. This module covers gross pay vs. net pay, reading a pay stub, taxes and withholdings, direct deposit, W-4 basics, overtime, budgeting a first paycheck, checking and savings accounts, credit and credit scores, avoiding predatory lending, employer benefits, retirement basics, and why small financial decisions early in adulthood matter.

Practice, not lecture: “You earn $15.50/hour and work 28 hours this week. Taxes are withheld. You need transportation money, you want to save, and you are considering a buy-now-pay-later purchase. What do you actually have left?”
Featured Module

Digital & AI Readiness

Not a standalone “AI class,” but the judgment students need to use these tools responsibly at work: when AI is appropriate to use, how to verify AI-generated information, why blindly submitting AI output can damage credibility, how AI can support productivity, what information should never be entered into public AI tools, and why human judgment remains their responsibility.

The point isn’t whether students use AI. It’s whether they can use it well, and know when not to.

Not one job. A lifetime of work.

WorkReady™ is not designed to prepare students for a single job market that may look completely different in five years. Technology will change. Job titles will change. Industries will change.

The skills required to communicate, adapt, make sound decisions, manage money, solve problems, build relationships, and take responsibility for your work will continue to matter.

We prepare young people not simply to enter the workforce, but to navigate it, grow within it, and adapt as it changes.

Student Outcomes

What students will be able to do.

After participating in WorkReady™, students are better prepared to:

Early employability and career-exploration skills that build the foundation for workplace success, introduced at a developmentally appropriate level.

Communication · teamwork · accountability · first impressions · problem-solving · emotional intelligence · workplace behavior · career exploration · professionalism
Grades 10–12

The full workplace-readiness experience for students approaching internships, employment, and life after graduation.

Résumés · interviewing · workplace communication · supervisors · conflict · paychecks · taxes · benefits · workplace rights · first 90 days · advancement

Not another career worksheet.

Schools have career counselors. Teachers can pull résumé worksheets off the internet. AI can generate interview questions. WorkReady™ is different because it is taught from the other side of the hiring table.

Developed from more than two decades of experience in human resources, organizational leadership, employee relations, hiring, performance management, and workforce development, WorkReady™ teaches students what employers actually see, what managers actually complain about, why new employees actually fail, and what behaviors actually affect advancement.

Students don’t just learn what a résumé should look like. They learn how employers think.
