Young people are navigating friendships, social pressures, emotional challenges, difficult decisions, and growing expectations for independence. These experiences shape who they become.
Yet the skills needed to navigate them aren’t always taught through traditional academic instruction. Polished, Poised, and Prepared for Success creates intentional opportunities for students to develop the personal, interpersonal, and leadership skills that support their growth beyond the classroom.
This is about helping young people grow, not fixing them. Some students are finding their voice. Some are navigating friendships, emotions, or peer influence. Others are already thriving and ready to lead. Every one of them benefits from intentional support.
Three connected components work together, so what young people learn is practiced with peers and reinforced at home.
Every young person has different strengths, experiences, and goals. Individualized guidance can focus on confidence, communication, relationships, emotional awareness, accountability, decision-making, and personal leadership.
Interactive sessions, not lectures. Guided discussions, real-life scenarios, team challenges, and leadership activities give students room to practice skills and build friendships with peers.
Families remain central to their children’s growth. We support shared goal setting, open communication about developmental needs, and ways to reinforce skills at home.
An intentional youth development experience. Not therapy, academic tutoring, behavioral treatment, or a drop-in recreation program.
Six areas of growth guide the work. Sessions are interactive and grouped by developmental stage, so each group meets students where they are.
Helping students recognize their strengths, develop a healthy sense of self, and communicate with greater confidence.
Developing listening skills, respectful communication, healthy boundaries, and positive relationships.
Helping students recognize emotions, respond to challenges, and practice healthy coping and self-regulation.
Encouraging responsibility, integrity, sound judgment, and ownership of decisions.
Providing opportunities to collaborate, contribute, solve problems, and practice leadership.
Supporting goal setting, independence, self-advocacy, practical life skills, and early awareness of future opportunities.
Develop skills, build relationships, set personal goals, and practice growth in real situations: communication, character, decision-making, healthy boundaries, and leadership.
Deepen relationships, strengthen skills, and explore new experiences through leadership challenges, team-building, practical life skills, and personal development projects.

Families may participate through direct enrollment or, when funding is available, through sponsored opportunities made possible by our community partners. Sponsored participation depends on available funding and program capacity. Program fees for direct enrollment are shared once we understand what fits your child.

Assistant Chief Deputy Kirby Dawson stood in front of our students and gave them his time, his wisdom, and his belief in who they could become. He was doing what he loved: pouring into young people.
We are grateful for the example he set and honored that he was part of this work. His legacy lives on in every young person he encouraged, and in the village he helped build.
Mon Amie’s Solutions connects learning, leadership, and well-being through three Labs, so young people are supported as whole people, not just students.
An existing program that has served more than 30 middle and high school students, including a fully sponsor-funded cohort.
Led by Amy Ogunyemi, with 20+ years of HR and leadership development experience and a background in mental health and traumatology.
Our Learning Lab supports students and families, including as an LDOE-approved provider for the Steve Carter Education Program.
